As stated before, a leader AND activity should be decided on BEFORE 3:15! As directors, it would be convenient and responsible to come up with a schedule.
Questions.
1. Did anyone else feel like the actors didn't memorize their lines over break?
2. How did working outside go?
3. Was everyone able to talk to your actors?

Hi bloggers. Welcome back to crunch time :)
ReplyDeleteYO!!! I've been talking to Jared and I'm going to hook him up with some Hip Hop beats, and some of the most infamous, ridiculously good Hip Hop albums of all time to further fortify his rapping. This with both come in use with his skills and his understanding of 90's inner city slang.
ReplyDeletea few observations...
ReplyDeletewhen rehearsing in the Black Box, ALL involved parties should stay in the room. There is a tendency for actors to wander out of the room and then someone else is sent to find them when its their scene. directors, please make this announcement to your actors upfront. it'll save valuable time in the BB.
when using the costume area, please keep your voices down. it travels into the BB too easily and is disruptive.
the plays i saw today seem to be coming together well. if i'm not mistaken, everyone has their actors off book by the end of this week, which is great.
the sun was warm and the sky was blue today BUT, please make sure you are making the best use of your time if you are not in the BB!!!
keep up the good work and let's stay focused...

ReplyDeleteadrienne and i had a great run through, we feel once lighting props and sound come together things will run smother, people were starting to improvise which was great and we were happy with the way it went, with the extra time we had we played park bench with them being in character and i feel it helped with them becoming more comfortable with their character and helped bring things closer, it was also very entertaining to watch
ReplyDelete1. Did anyone else feel like the actors didn't memorize their lines over break?
ReplyDeleteI haven't met with my actors with lines yet because they were being used today, but I talked to them. One of them was extremely prepared but I am nervous for tomorrow.
2. How did working outside go?
It was gorgeous out. I think it was slightly distracting though.
3. Was everyone able to talk to your actors?
Yes, I talked to my actors.
Tonight I just have to research some stuff for my costumes.
I didn't get to run anything, but I discussed basically every technical aspect of the show with Kendell. I gave him a list of the lights we'll need, the sound and screen cues, and set pieces. We also went over the plot, discussed how we would pull the ending off, and re-visited the props list. I also got to talk with Mr. Bushnell about recording the finale.
ReplyDeleteour run trough went great today. they didn't have their lines memorized but it was okay because they're all working on them. jarred did learn all his raps though and i was really excited because they sounded SO good. i was really proud of him. everything went really well today as far as a run through goes. apparently we're not allowed to say "puss or pussy" anymore.... so we just have to change those lines. but it was really good. i think work went fine outside today, when i was out there in the beginning people were going over lines while enjoying the sunshine and i think that's fine. the only i thing i would say is that some of the actors in general seem to be a bit distracted and not really interested in what is going on. i'm hoping that changes...
ReplyDeletelol for a lot of my people to only have two lines, it was funny that they claimed to know them and stare at the sheet as they said them. We'll see tomorrow who has their ish together... outside just made me want to sleep more and not think about working, and i met with almost all of my people, but it was hard to keep them on task because we were all spread out, i'm going to have to be against outside because its too big of a space to keep track of people and what they are doing, also.... i hate costumes. LOVE YOU ALL
ReplyDeleteI said before break that everyone had to be off book by the end of the week, but I was pleasantly surprised that everyone was off book for the runthroughs yesterday. The play's progressing really well and now we can start working on blocking and pacing with our remaining rehearsals instead of worrying about getting lines down.
ReplyDeleteOur run through went really well! Some people had their lines memorized, some people were iffy about their lines and then there were total failures. Which all was to be expected. I think we really need our lighting and sound to move forward for next time. I really enjoyed our Park Bench session as everyone's characters. I was really helpful and it worked to eliminate some awkwardness thats been happening in our cast.
ReplyDeleteAh...i'm falling behind on the blog. reflecting back to the first day. the weather was beautiful and i did a read through with luke who has all of his lines almost completely memorized! it was a very good feeling seeing his work ethic and what he's bringing to the table. it was better than i had ever hoped for:) good first day back..
